Terms of Service

The plain version: your family's history belongs to you, we help you turn it into something you can print and keep, and neither of us should be surprised by the other.

Last updated 3 September 2026.

These Terms govern your use of FrameMyRoots — the website, the family tree tools, and the print-ready files you can buy through it. By signing in, building a tree, or buying a download, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the service.

1. About FrameMyRoots

FrameMyRoots is a trading name of Paraspect Solutions (OPC) Private Limited, a company registered in India at FT NO. B-3/1104, ALDEA ESPANOLA SR NO 12, HAVELI, BANER GAON, PUNE 411045, MAHARASHTRA. It helps you record your family — names, dates, relationships and places — and turn that record into a poster you can print and frame.

Building a tree is free. Downloading a print-ready file is paid. We may add, change or withdraw features over time; where a change materially affects something you have already paid for, we will tell you.

2. Your account

You sign in with Google. There is no separate FrameMyRoots password — Google confirms who you are and passes us your name, email address and profile picture. You are responsible for keeping that Google account secure, and for what happens through your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has gained access to it.

3. What you can record

You can add people to your tree along with names (in more than one language if you wish), dates or years of birth and death, gender, parent and child relationships, spouse or partner relationships, a place associated with a person, and free-text notes.

You decide what to record. You may add people who have no FrameMyRoots account and who never will — that is the nature of a family tree.

4. Your responsibility for what you add

You are responsible for the information you enter. Because a family tree contains information about other people, please use real care with details about living relatives.

You agree not to use FrameMyRoots to:

  • harass, threaten or harm anyone;
  • impersonate another person;
  • publish unlawful or abusive content;
  • record information you have no right or reason to record;
  • violate someone’s privacy or other legal rights;
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems or anyone else’s account;
  • introduce malicious code, or interfere with the service’s security or operation;
  • scrape or systematically collect information from the service.

If someone believes information about them has been added improperly, they can contact us and we will look into it.

5. Your family history belongs to you

You keep ownership of everything you enter. We claim no ownership of it and we do not sell it.

You give us a narrow permission to store, process and display your content only as far as needed to run the service you asked for — showing your tree, saving your changes, letting people you invite see it, generating your poster file, and providing support. That permission ends when it is no longer needed for those purposes.

6. Sharing a tree

You can invite specific people to a tree using their Google email address, and give them a role that determines whether they can edit or only view. There is no public link — sharing is deliberately invitation-only, because family records are private by default.

You choose who gets access. Once you share information with someone, we cannot control what they do with it afterwards.

7. Buying a poster

Building your tree costs nothing. A print-ready PDF is a one-time purchase for that poster. The price is shown before you pay, and the price that applies is the one displayed when you place the order.

Payments are handled by a third-party payment provider. We do not store your complete card details on our own systems; the provider collects and processes them under its own terms and privacy policy.

We may cancel an order where reasonably necessary — payment failure, a technical error, suspected fraud, or circumstances outside our control. If we cancel after payment, we will refund you.

Because each file is generated specifically from your own tree, a completed download cannot be un-made. If something is wrong with your file, contact us and we will fix it or refund it. Exactly what we can and cannot refund, how to ask, and how long it takes are set out in our Cancellations & Refunds policy. Current prices are on the Pricing page.

8. Printing your poster

We supply a print-ready file. You choose where to have it printed. What comes off a printer will not match a screen exactly — paper, ink, trimming and screen calibration all differ — and that variation is outside our control. If the file itself is defective, tell us.

9. We don’t check whether your history is accurate

FrameMyRoots records what you enter. We do not verify it. A family tree may contain errors, gaps, or accounts that different relatives remember differently. Getting it right is yours to do — and, usually, worth doing while there is still someone to ask.

10. Our software

The FrameMyRoots software, design, branding, logos and interface belong to Paraspect. You may not copy the service, reverse engineer it, sell or sublicense it, remove proprietary notices, or use our branding without permission. None of this applies to your own content, which stays yours.

11. Availability and data loss

We work to keep the service running, but cannot promise it will never be unavailable — maintenance, technical faults, third-party outages and infrastructure failures all happen.

We take reasonable measures to protect what you store here, but no online service can guarantee data is never lost or corrupted. Keep your own copy of anything irreplaceable. This matters more here than on most services: the whole point of this product is that some things cannot be recovered once they are gone.

12. Third-party services

FrameMyRoots relies on Google for sign-in, a third-party provider for database and infrastructure, and a payment provider for purchases. Each has its own terms and privacy policy, and we are not responsible for services they control independently.

13. Suspension, termination and deletion

We may suspend or close an account being used in breach of these Terms, posing a security risk, or where the law requires it. Where reasonably possible we will give notice first.

You can stop using FrameMyRoots at any time, and can ask us to delete your account and its contents. Some information may need to be kept for legal, accounting, security or dispute-resolution purposes — see the Privacy Policy.

14. Disclaimer and liability

To the maximum extent the law allows, the service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We make real efforts to keep it reliable, but do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free or permanently available.

To the extent the law allows, Paraspect is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, and our total liability for any paid product will not exceed what you paid for that product. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded, or rights you have that cannot legally be waived.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. If a change materially affects you, we will give reasonable notice through the service, and the date at the top will change.

16. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, and disputes fall to the courts of Pune, Maharashtra.

17. Other policies that form part of these Terms

These Terms do not stand alone. The following also apply to your use of FrameMyRoots and to anything you buy from us, and they form part of the agreement between us:

  • Privacy Policy — what we collect about you and your family, why, and what we do not do with it.
  • Cancellations & Refunds — what we refund, what we cannot, how to ask, and how long it takes.
  • Shipping & Delivery — how and when you receive what you have bought.
  • Pricing — current prices, what is free, and how tax is handled.

Where one of those pages says something more specific than these Terms about the same subject, the more specific page applies. If any of them genuinely conflicts with these Terms, these Terms take precedence — tell us, because a conflict is a mistake on our part rather than a choice.
